Break No Bones by Kathy Reichs

What I Didn’t Like:

• There are times when the text cuts at weird spots in this one. I believe I commented, in an earlier book, that the chapters were long and rambling. This time the chapters seem to follow the James Patterson style of very short and leave you on a cliffhanger. Perfectly fine, but worth mentioning so you can be aware. 
• I don’t like the love triangle aspect of this book series, which was never featured in the television show. I was always a fan of Bones and I love forensic anthropology … I just don’t need this particular romance side line.
• Some of the internal thoughts from Temperance were awkward this time around. Of course, knowing Tempe like we all do at this point, it’s forgivable. 

What I Did Like:

• Forensic anthropology is so well represented. I love the difference between a detective novel and these. They’re both solving a crime and keeping things interesting, but the focus is very different. It’s refreshing. 
• Temperance. She’s smart, a little socially awkward, and amazing. I adore her on the TV show and I adore her in the books. 
• The mystery is solid. You don’t have it all figured out from the first page (and neither do the investigators). It’ll keep you guessing. 

Who Should Read This One:

• Fans of Bones, the TV show who haven’t tried the book series yet. In fact, if you aren’t planning on starting with book 1 this may be a great starting place. Short chapters, interesting case, and the TV show was already underway so the author’s note at the end is pretty neat. 
• If you like mystery/thrillers but feel like the typical detective thing is getting a little old, try this!

My Rating: 3 Stars. 

• It’s a good book with a solid mystery line.
