The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn

A Mystery/Thriller, 2018 by William Morrow, 455 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

• Content warning: Some of the language surrounding mental health is insensitive. Most of it is the character talking down about herself, but still worth watching out for.
• Short choppy sentences. It’s relevant to the plot and character but if you’re annoyed by that be aware.
• Definitely similar to other things in this genre in regards to the general plot. I will say there are differences I hadn’t seen but some of the similarities made it easier to predict smaller twists.

What I Did Like:

• Unreliable narrator. Not everyone loves this trope but I do. It adds to the guessing game and always promises to shock you. This narrator couldn’t even trust herself and that was wonderful.
• I didn’t have it all figured out. I love being surprised but a book and this will deliver some surprises for sure.
• Excellent descriptions and explanations. From the descriptions of the houses and people to the explanations of people’s movements, it was all well written and very clear.

Who Should Read This One:

• Mystery fans who like piecing together the clues! This one will have at least one twist you don’t see coming.
• Unreliable narrator fans, for sure.

My Rating: 4 Stars

• This one is a well written mystery with enough surprises to keep you guessing.
