I’ve finished my first 5 book reviews for July. Normally this would be where I drop into my statistics and little fun facts (we’ll get to that) but since I have you here I want to run something by you. I’m considering alternatives to my reviews. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it’s a lot to keep up with around here. I post when I read 5 books … which is usually about 3 videos a month. That’s a lot. I’m considering dropping down to only posting those which are either review requests, shield challenges, ARCs, or 4/5 star books. Everything else would basically just end up on Goodreads/Amazon without being on the YouTube. For this particular round of 5 books that would’ve meant only 4 of these would’ve been a video. There are times when it would be less than that, obviously. Anyway, if you have opinions about that … would you shout about it in the comments, please? THANKS!

Book Notes That Didn’t Make the Video
Saving Hascal’s Horrors
- This was an electronic copy sent to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.
- There are a few alternate covers available. Honestly, the one I had was my least favorite of the cover options. But since it was an electronic copy, I didn’t have to look at the cover often enough for that to be a factor in my decision or rating at all.

The Oddling Prince
- I borrowed this electronic copy from my library when it earned the shield for lowest average reader rating on my TBR (a shield I started in hopes of finding hidden gems that were misunderstood).
- I remembered why I added this book to my TBR. Someone online mentioned it gave them Midsummer Night’s Dream vibes. I absolutely ADORED that play so that gave me pretty high expectations that this one didn’t live up to. So maybe I expected too much, I don’t know.

This Time

- The second book in this trilogy was release in 2019. Book 3 has enjoyed a cover release and will be coming soon.

The Girl With All the Gifts
- This was an audiobook I borrowed from the library.
- I was afraid this one was going to be too much like every other dystopian or zombie book I’ve picked up. It was NOT. This book delivers on differences and originality in a really impressive way.

The Hate U Give
- We own a hardcover copy of this one and have since it came out in 2017. But my TBR has been insanely long during that entire time and I just haven’t gotten to it. Honestly, part of me was afraid it wouldn’t live up to the hype. I was wrong, I admit it.
- I wish I could say I waited so long to read this one that the message was irrelevant. Can we get to the point in our society where I can say that … please?
