I’ve finished my first 5 book reviews for January (and the year). Let’s dive into the details.

These are my typical two age categories to pull ahead of the crowd, so no surprised here.
Genres: 1 Contemporary, 1 Fantasy, 1 Graphic Novel, 1 Mystery/Thriller, 1 Historical Fiction
Technically, that contemporary should be a nonfiction (in my opinion). That graphic novel was also a classic adaptation. However, look at that spread of genres! I read everything.

Close as you can get to 50/50 with an odd number of books.

Book Notes That Didn’t Make the Video
Dear Nobody
- I purchased this ebook awhile back with a gift card. It’s been just waiting for the opportunity to read it! Thank you, shield challenge.
- The images can be temperamental on an electronic device, just be aware. I was able to get them to load but it was a struggle at first. My advice? Wait for the book to fully download before opening (normally with Kindle you can open when it’s started) to make sure you get those images.

- There are a few grammatical errors or missing words in this one. Nothing that changes the meaning or gets in the way, but worth mentioning.

The Great Gatsby (Adaptation)
- This was a paperback ARC I received from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. The ARC actually comes in black-and-white, although the final copy will be in full color. To help reviewers understand what the final will look like, there is a separate book in full color of only chapter 1. In my opinion, the lack of color didn’t really hurt anything. Although the color is lovely.
- I am NOT a big fan of The Great Gatsby. That being said, this is well done. I think her intention was to highlight some of the beauty she sees in the classic in new ways. I feel like I like it a little more now, which I’m sure the author would be proud of.

- You know that moment in a book when you find the title used? This one was really cool. It was in a sort of unexpected way that will definitely grab your attention.

- I have previously enjoyed Kristin Hannah’s other historical fiction. She continues to rely on real events and characters that read like they are real people.
