May 2022 Reading Stats

Lately, I’ve felt a little STUCK when it comes to writing new projects. The day job takes its toll, I had a HUGE convention I attended (which is fun but it takes prep), and I’ve just been sort of struggling. I’m hitting that point where I feel stretched too thin, I think. Although that’s likely a HUGE excuse. Really, I think I just haven’t found the project that calls to me. The good news is, I’m still reading! Gotta find that inspiration somewhere. Let’s see how I did on that massive reading goal.

9 Books

2,869 Pages

92 Pages per day (Months like this are why that 100 pages per day thing is UNOFFICIAL)

SIDE NOTE

I don’t have official reading per day/month goals. I have a year long goal (104 books) which breaks down to 2 per week. Sometimes I’m ahead. Sometimes I’m behind. Also, in a perfect world I’d read about 100 pages a day (preference) but sometimes life gets in the way. So when I reference my silent goals or my unofficial goals … I probably mean these.

As always, first up is checking in on the “I read everything” claim.

GENRE

Yup, still holds true. I literally read any genre. How about age ranges, though? Do I spread those around too?

AGE RANGE

Pretty much, yes. I do tend to gravitate toward books written for adults (because HELLO) but I enjoy books from all age ranges.

You’re most common question …

WHERE DID I GET MY BOOKS?

Here’s that graph showing the format I get all those from. It was a crazy month for library usage (summers typically are around here).

Yes, as you can see, I have NO self control in a library. I literally went into the library to RETURN ONE BOOK my daughter borrowed. I left with 6 books, 5 of which WEREN’T EVEN ON MY TBR. So … yes, it’s a problem. No, I’m not really sorry.
I already know the indie/traditional spread isn’t going to be good. Whenever I have a heavy library usage month, it skews toward those you would find in a library (traditional). Let’s check.

Yikes, yes. I was apparently having a serious backlist month. Sometimes that happens. I get to a point where I’m stressing about the 200 books TBR and just want to knock some of those off the list. It’s not even a conscious decision, it just sort of happens.

And that’s May. Thanks for being here, friends. I know I’ve been slacking on the IG stories when I start a new book, wheel spins, and TikTok’s … but I’m still here. I’ll get back into the swing of all that social media stuff you love soon. For now, the blog appreciates you!

Happy June!
