Digital Fortress by Dan Brown
A Mystery/Thriller, 1998 by St Martin’s Press, 510 Page
What I Didn’t Like:
- Some of the twists in the story felt cliche and stretched too thin. I wanted more from the big reveals, honestly.
- I didn’t feel overly connected to any character. You spend a little time with a lot of people. There’s really no one I rooted for.
- The ending felt overly dramatic and bordering on cheesy. I mean, it was intense and it did work, but it just seemed a bit much.
- There’s some fatphobic content and some cliches for the brilliant characters that I could’ve done without.
What I Did Like:
- Strange how well the technology held up! I was nervous because this one was published in the late 90s but it still felt relevant.
- The mystery is wonderful. You are immediately sucked into the story, wondering who is responsible and how it all comes together.
- I didn’t have it all figured out. There were questions and twists that intrigued me and kept me interested. There were things I didn’t predict.
Who Should Read This One:
- I would love to get the opinion of a tech person on this one!
- Readers who like high stakes, fast paced mysteries that read like puzzles.
My Rating: 4 Stars
- Overall, this one brings an intensity that the genre demands and will please readers of thrillers.
