You may be aware that I’m trying to get back into writing poetry in 2025. For that reason, I’ve challenged myself to write 12 poems (one per month). As I mentioned in January, I often use prompts when I’m writing poetry because it’s been a long time and prompts help get those creative juices flowing. This time I found a site called Poetry Potion that has daily poetry prompts. In fact, they had 3 all listed for today, February 7th.
One of them immediately jumped out at me (figuratively, obviously). This is the reason I love poetry. I read those two words that made up the prompt and immediately thought of my current WIP. Two of the characters in this one cannot be together, for a variety of reasons. But I immediately imagined she’d connect with this prompt physically. It would PAIN her to see those words.
She could relate.
So, without further ado, here’s the poem. The prompt was Skin Remembers and I like to think Sarah Rodriguez, the main character of my Slasher WIP, would have appreciated this one.

There you have poem #2 for 2025. Remember, I’m hoping for 10 more. Don’t forget to follow the blog if you want to see more of them! Also, if you write one using the prompt, let me know in the comments. I’d love to read them!
