You might remember that I challenged myself to get back into writing more poetry in 2025 by writing one poem per month. You also may remember that I started to worry I was going to drop the ball in MARCH by waiting until the 19th to write my poem. Anyone looking at the calendar right now? Yup, I’m even later in April.
Look, the poems are getting written. But I am starting to worry that by the end of the year I will run out of days in the month to procrastinate on this task. It’s not that the poetry and I aren’t meshing. It’s just that I often feel like I have a LOT of ideas already rolling around in my brain.
I think, for success, I have to remember that these poems can be INSPIRED by the work I’m focusing on.
So, for April, here’s one that matches one of the projects I’ve had on my mind lately. I don’t want to explain WHAT project or WHY just yet … but enjoy the poem anyway.
I will say that this one was also inspired by the Writer’s Digest PAD (Poem-A-Day) Challenge https://www.writersdigest.com/2025-april-pad-challenge-day-22 for April 22nd where there were TWO options today:
- Write a TELL ME poem OR
- A DON’T TELL ME poem
There’s no definitive explanation for what either of those mean, as you get to define that. So, here’s where I took it. Enjoy.

That’s officially Poem #4 for the year. See you again next month (hopefully sooner than the 22nd).
