Today a book review video dropped over on the YouTube channel. You know what that means… behind the scenes companion post! Let’s do this.
Statistics
Age Category: 1 YA, 4 Adult
Third give in a row with these stats. I’m definitely going to have to read some middle grade or children’s books in the next five. This is starting to get predictable and I hate the idea of being predictable.
Author’s Gender: 3 Female, 2 Male
I’m skewed toward female authors already for 2020.
Genres: One of each-fantasy, mystery/thriller, science fiction, contemporary, historical fiction
Perfect sampling of some of my most common genres, honestly.
Indie Authors: 3 Yes, 2 No
Nice
Total Pages Read: 1,295
Average Length Per Book: 259 (a little on the short side)
Ratings: One of each-1 star, 3 star, and 4 star. Two 5 star books.
YAY five star! Watch this video with your TBR list handy because these two were amazing.
Publication Dates: 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019
Not a bad range.
Book Notes that Didn’t Make the Video
The Life We Bury
- I listened to this one as an audiobook from the library.
- Genuinely enjoyed the audiobook narrator. The way it was read sucked me in before the first chapter was even over.

Whirlwind
- I bought this one on ebook after someone on Twitter suggested it.
- The cover is gorgeous!

Alien Heredity
- The author gave me a paperback copy of this book when I met him. He actually gave me a few.
- This is the first one of his books that I’ve rated low. I really hated to do it, since I previously enjoyed some of his books.
- In fact, I’m not going to drop a buy link for that one. But here is a link to one of his that I enjoyed. 2035
The Husband’s Secret
- I borrowed this paperback from my library after it was recommended based on my 5-star review of Bits and Pieces by Dawn Hosmer. It was actually recommended by Dawn herself!
- This is the second Liane Moriarty book I’ve read. I’ve enjoyed them both! I think I’m becoming a fan of her style.

A Pale Shade of Winter
- I joined a group on Facebook to give away codes for my audiobooks. The group is authors, narrators, and reviewers. I did drop my codes and get a few reviewers but this is one of the ones I requested.
- I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one, but I’m so glad I gave it a chance.

Need a Review?
Remember, if you have recommendations based on something you read here or saw on the video drop the title in the comments. Especially if it’s a recommendation based on one of the 5-star books!
If you want me to review something you had a part in bringing into the world (either as an author or a publisher) you can submit that title here.
The Video
Thanks for being here. Here’s that video I kept alluding to.
